Pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period are significant transitions that can bring changes in mood, anxiety, sleep, relationships, and overall well-being. While these experiences are common, you do not have to navigate them alone.
Story Medical offers specialized perinatal psychiatry services for individuals who are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, recently postpartum, or experiencing mental health concerns related to the transition to parenthood. Our care is designed to provide thoughtful, individualized evaluation and treatment while considering the unique needs of both parent and baby.
Services may include evaluation and treatment of:
- Depression and anxiety during pregnancy or postpartum
- Postpartum depression and anxiety
- Perinatal obsessive-compulsive symptoms
- Trauma-related symptoms
- Mood disorders, including bipolar disorder
- Mental health concerns related to pregnancy, childbirth, or the transition to parenthood
- Medication evaluation and management during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Care is provided by Kennedy LaVille Thoren, DNP, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, PMH-C, a Perinatal Mental Health Certified provider through Postpartum Support International. Treatment recommendations are individualized and may include medication management, education, coordination with other members of your healthcare team, and connection with additional mental health or community resources when appropriate.
