Flu, RSV, and COVID-19 Vaccines Available at Story Medical Clinics

NEVADA, Iowa—Story Medical Clinics in Nevada and Maxwell are now scheduling flu, RSV, and COVID-19 vaccines for the 2025-26 season. The COVID-19 vaccine is available only to patients 12 and older. Patients are encouraged to book their appointments by calling the clinic.

“Each fall we remind our community that vaccines are one of the best tools we have to stay healthy through the winter months,” says Dr. Audra Poterucha, Story Medical Clinic–Nevada. “Flu season often peaks in late December or January, and illnesses like RSV and COVID-19 can be especially tough on young children, older adults, and people managing chronic conditions. Getting vaccinated before these illnesses are widespread gives you the best protection.”

Why Vaccines Are Important

  • Flu: A leading cause of preventable illness and hospitalizations every year. The vaccine can help reduce the severity of symptoms if you do get sick.
  • RSV: Most risky for adults over 60, RSV can lead to serious complications and hospitalization.
  • COVID-19: Staying up to date with boosters helps guard against severe illness and ongoing variants.

The flu vaccine, specifically, is strongly recommended for:

  • Children six months and older
  • Pregnant women
  • Adults 65 and older
  • People with chronic health conditions
  • Caregivers of high-risk individuals

“Vaccines are safe, quick, and effective,” Dr. Poterucha adds. “By getting yours, you’re protecting not only your own health but also the well-being of those around you.”
