Visiting A Patient
Visiting hours
Story Medical knows that visitors and the support they offer are an
integral part of a patient's healing process. Visiting hours at Story County
Medical Center are generally 8:00am to 8:00pm, but can be extended at the
request of the charge nurse. Discretion will be used based on the patient's
need to rest. Children are encouraged to visit with the supervision of a
parent; we ask that the parent use his/her judgment in regards the patient's
condition.
Bringing Patients a Gift
Visitors are encouraged to bring cards, balloons, gifts or flowers to
patients, however, please note that any Latex balloons or other latex
gifts will not be allowed into the hospital due to latex allergies.
Parking
Parking is free to all patients and visitors. There is a circle drive on
the east side of the North Campus is available for drop off/pick up of any
patient or visitor who needs easy access to the main entrance.
Meals and snacks
The hospitals cafeterias are open 24 hours/ day with complimentary
coffee, toast, beverage machines and vending machines. Guests are invited to
use the microwave, toaster, beverage and snack vending machines at any hour
of the day or night. Guest trays are available for family/friends to eat
with a patient at a minimal cost, but we encourage families to use the
cafeteria.
Food and Nutrition Services
Story County Medical Center’s Food and Nutrition Services provides food
and beverages at the hospital and Senior Care for family members and guests.
Our North Campus cafeteria is open Monday through Friday
from 11am to 1pm. You will find a selection of hot entrees, starch, soup of
the day, vegetables, fruits, salads, desserts, a variety of milks, and a
salad bar. Menu items are individually priced. Payment is made after making
menu item selections.

Street Bistro, our South Campus cafeteria,
is open to the public for lunch Monday through Friday, 11am to 1pm.
Breakfast is offered Monday though Friday from 7am to 9am.
Soda and snack machines are located in the hospital and Senior Care
cafeterias. You will find an assortment of bottled water, juices, along with
Pepsi and Coca Cola products. The vending machines will take change or
single dollar bills.
Guests and family members may request a guest meal be delivered to their
loved one’s room, along with the patient’s tray. Those wishing to use this
service should call Food and Nutrition Services to request a tray. At this
time, Nutrition Staff will take your menu preferences. Nursing staff will
deliver the guest tray to the patient’s room along with the patient’s tray.
Nutrition will collect the money for the guest tray. There is a charge of
$5.00 per tray.
